Who I am
After studying to become a social worker in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, I worked for 13 years in the Arlon gendarmerie in victim support. When I arrived, there wasn’t a social program in place so I had to create everything from scratch. It was exhilarating!
This is where I learned what being a social worker is really about. I was confronted with the many hardships that my clients faced, which was both difficult and enriching. I learned how to keep perspective when facing difficult times in my own life.
I enjoy challenging myself and making new discoveries, whether at work or in sports. When I have the chance, I go horseback riding in the woods nearby. My hobbies also include roller-skating and skydiving. I’m married with two children.
What I do
I joined KBL epb in 2008. I was given the task of setting up a program to support members of staff dealing with personal challenges. This is an innovative service that no other bank offers.
During my time here, a number of people have utilized our programs.
Several projects have been set up, such as foot reflexology, which was such a success that we added back reflexology. In recent years, several seminars have been held on topics ranging from communication and self-knowledge to alternative medicine and stress management. There will certainly be more to come.
What I think
A company’s success depends on the well being of its employees. Improving their well being translates into improved performance at all levels of the company. Over the long term, it reduces the number of sick days and diminishes the adverse effects of professional stress.
